So let's throw the rhetoric in the other direction and put winning ahead of the PRIVILEDGE to represent your school on the football field. No one said anything about sending them to Gitmo or expulsion but the message being sent to me is that winning takes priority over true discipline. I can't see how any sane person would see it any different. I hope the kids did learn a valuable lesson and have successful careers but the level of offense seems to be not appropriate to the punishment judging by the fact that two coaches no longer have jobs and no formal denial or explanation has been presented. It's ultimately the administration's call but I wonder if they know how it looks from the outside at this point or if they even care?

Rogers, I think you are little off on this one. The suspensions were handed out the week following the weekend of the incident - immediately following the week 8 game and based on the internal investigation of the incident, the players recevied a 2 game suspension - week 9 and the first round of the playoffs (since it was obviously known at that point that a playoff game would be played). Decision made! Done! There was no guarantee for a second round game. What's the admin going to do? Hey, they won the round one game and are playing another game - let's add one more game to the suspensions? Obviously not. The decision had already been made.

I know more about this situation than most, if not all of the contributors on this site. The biggest problems that I have are the firing of the coaches and the PR debacle from the district.

Lets just say Kaycob, you might know more than me..But being our business supports the football program with field signs and me knowing a couple of parents, Im in the know as well...

Well, there ya go. Insiders loyal to the program may defend and spin the events but all one needs do is read the Oakland Press and wonder why lawyers and trips to the ER are being mentioned and coaches are done for the year but not the players involved? Again, I wish them all well but when this broke the administration should have handled it way better. Not being a WLW backer, it looks bad across the board.
