Or even Hastings with St John's leaving them to take Chelsea's spot in r3d1, but that leaves the lakeshore short. So the Kenowa-Hastings looks better. That would leave Christian vs Hastings, and EGR at St Johns.

Kenowa at Holland is the only change in r2d1. Zeeland East at Fruitport.

Somebody mentioned this same thing last week, with the only difference being Cedar Springs instead of Kenowa. My response then was that, at the regional level my way looks better, and I still (might) believe that. If the yellow district played the blue district, it would be a no-brainer to swap Hastings with Kenowa. But considering how the districts are paired (red with yellow, and blue with white) into 8-team regions, it's more of a toss-up.

It comes down to choosing:
1. Consider Kenowa north and Hastings south, while ignoring the fact that Kenowa is also west and Hastings is east. Or,
2. Consider Kenowa west and Hastings east, while ignoring the fact that Kenowa is also north and Hastings is also south.

I went with option 1 because of district vs. district pairings, but would have no problem at all with option 2. In fact, I think the argument against my pairings is even stronger with Kenowa in there rather than Cedar Springs.

Yep. You caught me, and I won't change the wording because it's helpful to the intended audience (i.e. everybody but you, me, AuldSchool, and a handful of others). As you are well aware, and so eager to point out, a small percent of AuldSchool's team-choosing deviates from the MHSAA formula.  But as you also know (and would also jump on the chance to point out), a true 100% "if the playoffs began today" method would result in division breaks that would look nothing like the actual playoff division breaks at the end of the season.

This is not "nonsense" at all for the vast majority of people who can accept a dash of common sense used for the sake of accuracy. The wording simply helps people understand that the teams chosen are not the predicted teams. Most people are able to deal with that. I'm sorry that you can't.

I won't get in a tit-for-tat argument here, but to answer your question, I certainly believe DLS could end up D1 in the playoffs.  I'm not certain your statement is true either... I believe the next few class A teams the would have made the projection were below DLS in enrollment.  Cedar Springs and Greenville (and maybe FH Northern??) come to mind.  Can't confirm the other(s) off the top of my head.

Here is AuldSchool's list.  Warren Cousino would have been the first team to be added in by the MHSAA method and would be in D1.  This had a ripple effect in other divisions as well by not obeying the MHSAA playoff rules.  It has only happened once in twelve years whereby DLS would have been in D1 strictly by the numbers, but there are far fewer teams this year compared to the year in question as well.

Okay, I concede that had AuldSchool "obeyed" the MHSAA formula, DLS would be the biggest team in D2. I guess you've proven your point that this is all "nonsense".
