The Lakeview Spartans have begun their search for a new head Varsity coach, as Mark Gibbs resigned from the post on November 3rd. According to the Battle Creek Enquirer, Gibbs mentioned that he considered it after the 2008 season to spend more time with family. In his seven years with the Spartans, he was 38-31 and made the postseason once, in his first season in 2003. There would have been two playoff seasons (2004), but the school forgot to fill out paperwork to the MHSAA for a transfer student, costing the Spartans a 7-2 regular season. The Spartans had six winning seasons under Gibbs, including the last four seasons, all with 5-4 records.
