There are some out there who have the notion that you must have an internet phone to Twitter scores - not true. It's as easy as sending a Text Message from your regular phone and this tutorial will show you how to set it up from start to finish in 5 minutes.

To set up a Regular Cell Phone to join the Searn Twitter Network do he following: Print this off if you like.

1. Go to Twitter.com and click "SIGN UP NOW"
2. Enter Full Name (use your real or fake name or your username like EastGuRu)
3. Enter Username , password and email
4. Uncheck the box to receive twitter email updates to avoid spam
5. Type in the security words (so they know it's a human)
6. Click "CREATE MY ACCOUNT"
7. The next screen asks for your email password so Twitter can check you address book and see if other Twitter users are your friends. You can bypass this by clicking "SKIP THIS STEP"
8. The next screen gives you a list of other Twitter users that have big followings, with their names pre-checked. For our purposes, uncheck the box at the top , thus "un-selecting" all of those and then click FINISH.

Now you will be taken to your HomePage. If you plan to Text scores from your phone, click on #3 in the "WHAT TO DO NOW" List (TURN ON YOUR MOBILE PHONE).

1. Enter your mobile phone number in the second box (the first box has +1 in it)
2. Check the box stating that you understand that texting costs money (not from Twitter, but your phone carrier) unless you have an unlimited texting plan on your phone and click SAVE
3. The next screen asks you to verify that your phone number works by texting (from your phone) a code to a number (like 40404). Enter the number in your "To:" of your Text Message and enter the Code in the "Message" of your text message and click send.
4. You will then receive a Text Message back from Twitter saying that they have verified that your phone is capable of TM's.
5. You are now ready to Text Scores

Before you do so, a couple of things:

1. Go to your ACCOUNT and make sure your time settings show EST

2. You can also go to DEVICES and make sure you don't receive Text Messages from Searn Twitters other than during game times (if you choose).

Test it out.....

1. Text a score from your phone to the number they gave you (40404) and click send.
2. Now go to your Twitter page and hit Refresh. You score shold appear in the thread.
3. If this were Friday night it would appear along with other scores.

Now, to get scores from other people you have to add them to your "FOLLOWING" List. The easiest way is to go to the pinned thread on Searn's Site that says "Join the Twitter Network". Add a reply to that thread to add your name to those who will be doing scores. Searn will add the link to your Username to the first thread later.

The first post in that Topic has links to all of us who are posting scores.

1. By clicking any of them, it will take you to the twitter web page for that individual.
2. Click the LOGIN button in the upper right corner, enter your username and password.
3. The previous individuals Home Page will reappear and under their name will be a button that says FOLLOW. Click it and they will instantly be added to your "FOLLOWING" List. After doing so a little phone icon appears next to the words "Following". Click it. You will now receive the scores they post both in an online thread and on your phone as Text Messages automatically.
4. Repeat for each person you want scores from.

Please NOTE: If you check the box "Protect My Tweets" in the Account Settings Tab, then you will have to manually approve each and every person you want to see the score you post. Very tedious (I found out the hard way).

For those of you with a Smartphone (of some kind) and a DATA Plan, whereby you get internet service on your phone, you can also join the Searn's Twitter Network. Simply downnload a Twitter App for your phone, install it, sign in to your account and you can use it just as if you were at home infront of your computer….update scores, see the thread, add people to follow, etc.
