I was hoping that I could get some info about DDC? We open up with them at home this year. What type of offense and defense have they been running the last
couple years? Do they have much of a off-season conditioning program? I understand they have had a number of coaching changes over the last few years, how long
has their current coah been with the program? Their conference allignment is kind of interesting. They schedule C-C and BBR then schedule a couple teams from
Canada. Do the Canadian teams count for play-off points? I noticed on another thread that somebody has their game at Cros-Lex marked as a win (I hope he is
wrong). Could anyone give any input on that and the rest of their out of conference games? Just looking for friendly discussion and looking forward to seeing
them on the 28th.

Personally, I don't know much about them personnel wise. Offensively, they have been primarily an I-formation team with a heavy emphasis on the run game
and boot action off the run fake. In the past, defensively, they have run the 50 defense, though I do think they may have modified a little bit to incorporate
a little bit of the 4-3. This will be Coach Jeff Masserang's 4th season with Divine Child and if Don Hunt is still with the football staff, then the team
will be well conditioned.
The Canadian teams do count for playoff points and they play a bit of a modified Central Division schedule, playing CC, Brother Rice, and U of D, but not OLSM or DLS. They will be a tough team mentally and physically, but it remains to be seen how they are talent-wise. |

they should be a solid team with a chance to get 6 wins and make the playoffs........ I can assure you that they won't look past a good program such as
Cros/Lex- that "penciling" in a win stuff is all locker room garbage........ DC returns several skill kids and 16 starters but their question mark to
me is up front and that is still my question after watching them this past weekend in their intra squad stuff... they are bigger/faster/stronger (to steal the
old workout motto) than last season.... everyone of their kids that is a returning starter put on at least 15-20 lbs of "good weight"...... weight
rooms don't win games but they help keep kids playing at their optimum pace which can help prevent injuries...... solid QB that looks- at least from what
I've seen to date- that the game has "slowed" down for him a little...... solid/tough- but not flashy running back and a good 11th grader behind
him.... should be a very competitive opener for both teams

is back this season after taking last season off...... he's back along with a DL coach that also took last season off... Coach Hunt is a pretty tough guy
in the weight room and with the conditioning stuff....... both are welcomed back at least in my house........ they may be a little better than people think but
only time will tell

Sounds like DDC has a very solid conditioning program. I'm sure it will help in the 3rd and 4th quarters. It comes to mind that the C-L strength and
conditioning coach is also their coach for their power lifting team, (yes they have one). I don't know how many if any football players lift but I'm
sure more than a few do. They've done pretty well with it, having sent some kids to the nationals. It's amazing how much high school training and
conditioning has become more and more like small college teams.
The picture I'm getting for the DDC offense is somthing like what Redford Thurston threw at us last year. A very solid quarterback and good solid backs. If memory serves me, more than once we had linebackers in the back field very close to wrapping the quarterback for a loss, just to see him shoot out of there to make a decent play. It was a good game. |
