Junior Posts: 179 05/18/09 6:21 AM	okay, but in the teacher hypothetical, if you were to say who the elite, or best student(s) were in the class. it would be a disservice to place the individual who recieved an A in a group with those that didn't. Same goes for football.

Same goes for football. No it wouldn't, go back and look at my point about the Olympic Games. The top 3 finishers at the end of the event will be standing up on the same platform together, no matter if the Gold medalist broke a world record, and the silver, and bronze medalists' times wouldn't have even qualified in past Olympics. My logic about this whole thing, is elite= plural, and best= singular. Why would you classify [in the hypothetical] Rockford as "elite", when "the best" is a more accurate classification?

Maybe classifying it as radical is extreme, but it's still in the minority compared to the other definitions.

It can't be radical when the majority of definitions says there is more than one. Why would you classify a team like Rockford in the example as elite, when it's better to classify them as the best. That's why it's better to classify the best as the best, and those who are among the best, as the elite, meaning they are better then most, and could be the best, but not necessarily the best.
