All-Searn Hall of Fame Posts: 6320 12/18/08 10:03 PM MHSAA Football Stats	Tags : None Funny how CB didn't respond to my Clarkston Chiefs being national champs at 2 age levels on mdead. One of the teams even beat a team from Ohio. For the record, CB can say that subjective ratings isn't 100% accurate, but neither are the objective ratings. That's why it is fun to debate the ratings since no system hits 100%. That's why I produced something more than a handful of power ratings for NCAA football at one time so as to smooth out the differences. Everyone can point out an upset or two along the way. Not this year, but in 2007 Calpreps, Calpreps PR + SOS, and Massey were all terrible in picking the semifinal games here in Michigan while TNTDyno and I both beat them in the blog. It wasn't unusual in the past for NCAA basketball rating wise, for the last team being as good as the #1 team in the RPI by showing one team beating another and so forth. That's just the nature of upsets and sports. It might a tad harder now since there are a ton of weaker teams playing now. I'll see if I can demonstrate this after the NCAA men's basketball season ends or so what the low number is beating the #1 team in the country. Last Edited By: Mr NCAA 12/19/08 11:39 AM. All-Searn Hall of Fame Posts: 6321 12/19/08 1:21 AM MHSAA Football Stats	Here is the 2007 - 2008 RPI info based on the www.realtimerpi.com numbers. There was 341 NCAA men's basketball teams. Team #341 NJIT didn't win a game so it was impossible for them to be better than #1. But team #340 made it in a few shorts steps - usually it takes more than this. #340 North Florida beat #251 Savannah State #251 Savannah State beat #106 Southern Mississippi #106 Southern Mississippi beat #51 Alabama Birmingham #51 Alabama Birmingham beat #58 Kentucky #58 Kentucky beat #1 Tennessee So you can tell in theory North Florida could have beaten #1 Tennesse LOL!!!! Kentucky might be team #50 since I wrote it sloppily on my scrap sheet of paper.

All-Searn Hall of Fame Posts: 6322 12/19/08 11:36 AM MHSAA Football Stats	Chuckie can say that speed wins. However, there is more to the game besides speed. If not, the Detroit PSL teams would have won a state championship in D1 by now in Michigan. Plus Cleveland Glenville was faster than St. Iggy in his own Ohio backyard and yet lost in the playoffs to them once again. So speed doesn't always win out. There are techniques to compensate for lack of speed. Plus the Clarkston Chiefs beat one of his Ohio youth football teams on the way to the national championship so I see a tad bit of jealously there. Nothing like winning on the football field over other states and calling it a joke. Then, the whole freaking USAToday ratings and all the other ratings for any sport are a joke according to Chuckie since the Chiefs actually won on the field of play. The playoff system are what they are. Do I think that Concord DeLaSalle could beat Grant? Yes, but Grant got the nod for the open division for the CIF. Concord DeLaSalle hasn't been beaten by a northern California squad in ages. Plus on Calpreps DLS played around twice as hard as a schedule compared to Grant. Grant's schedule was close to Clarkston's even if the Wolves didn't go far in the Michigan playoffs. So it wasn't all that great as it was made out to be despite the wins over the out of state teams. I got to see Barry Sanders Jr. play in one of the games. Tulsa Union vs. Jenks was another one. The All Star Games has started as well since there was one on from Hawaii. The CIF has a rule where the season has to be over for players to participate so a few players were held out (or they lost eligibility in other sports such as track), but did practice with the rest of the national all stars. A new all star game is suppose to be on one of the ESPN networks involving North Carolina or South Carolina or both. Sylvania Southview beat Cincinnati Anderson by 4 = neutral field Cincinnati Anderson beat Columbus Francis DeSales by 4 = neutral field Columbus Francis DeSales beat Bishop Watterson by 4 = have to look it up Warren DeLaSalle beat Bishop Watterson by 4 = road win Muskegon beat Warren DeLaSalle by 20 = neutral field So it appears that Warren DeLaSalle appears to be as good as Columbus Francis De Sales. Sylvania Southview is better than Columbus Francis DeSales by 8 under this scenario. So Muskegon was better than Sylvania Southview by 12 points without doing the correction for home fields, which Muskegon breaks at least even as well. Michigan's D2 was better than Ohio's D2 this year folks. BTW Michigan was 1 - 0 against Ohio this year since the Warren DeLaSalle vs. Bishop Watterson was the only such game. So care to explain your average Ohio team beating Michigan's best now?

All-Searn Hall of Fame Posts: 6333 12/25/08 10:12 PM MHSAA Football Stats	Bethel Park from PA doesn't have any D1 recruits on their team according to a show that I just watched the other day and made the PIAA finals (lost in OT BTW). So there is another big state with a team in the finals without a D1 recruit on the team. So I'm not buying into CB's theory that in other major states that the team has to have D1 recruits to reach the state final.

All-Searn Hall of Fame Posts: 6339 12/28/08 11:38 PM MHSAA Football Stats	Just for Chuckie, I use multiple sources to gather information on my out of state teams: 1. Newspapers websites 2. Team Rating services - such as ESPN, Prep Nation, USAToday, Calpreps, FootballPower, Massey, etc. 3. Football games on DirecTV = if the game shows them I list returning starters for next year by position 4. Highlight shows = have around 14 out of state highlight shows 5. Player Recruiting shows and links = 2 shows plus multiple recruiting links 6. Plus there is Future Phenoms TV show that is on where I can gather info on the football and bb players plus they have a mini national rating at the end of the show 7. friends and relatives emails me their thoughts on some teams So one can tell that I use a ton of resources. Sometimes I do google for some potential youtube links, but not too frequently.

I saw 2 .500 teams in Ohio play this year, Canton McKinley, and Boardman, and I thought both were better then everybody in MI. Plus CharlieBr0wn does bring up very good facts, like Lumen Christi being beat by an average Ohio team, and the same with a great CC team in the early 90s.

I won't disagree that the top dogs in Ohio on a given year are usually better than anyone in Michigan ... that's just the way it is. I'm just not sure the top Michigan teams are far of the rest of the teams from Ohio. An example was the Toledo Central Catholic team from a few years that was one of the top Ohio D2 teams (won D2 1 of the years) .... Toledo CC was basically on par with Detroit CC (who was a combined (11-9) those two seasons) CC wasn't a contender in any class in Michigan those seasons ... but were basically on par with Ohio's best D2 team. I'm not an expert but do catch some Ohio games from time to time. My opinion on Ohio vs. Michigan is ... Take the elite from Ohio on a given year (top 2-5 teams) .... and chances are very few in Michigan could hang..... but I would put the best of the best in Michigan against any other team in Ohio on a given year .... This shows Inkster with a 1 - 0 forfeit loss to an Ohio team now, but we know what happened on the football field. This shows Inkster being better than several Ohio teams with winning records and Inkster wasn't a Michigan Class A team yet. I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused. How does that show that Inkster was better than several Ohio teams with winning records? Because Inkster beat Harding by 1 more point then Ursuline did? I think Lumen Christi, and CC getting beat by who they got beat by is a much stronger argument then Inkster beating a common opponent more by 1 point.
