Inkster tranfers? Inkster to D2 in 09? Austin White, etc. |

I'm setting the over/under at 8 new varsity players at Inkster between now and fall camp. ---- Which would you bet?

For the record, I have zero problem with Carter getting those kids to follow him as long as they are getting an education as well. In that case, it's a
win-win in my book. Is Coach Carter that kind of guy who uses football to inspire the educational side of life? I don't know. I would hope so. And,
frankly, I have never heard otherwise. So, kudos to him and if his team wins football games, then double kudos.

I don't necessarily have "a problem" with it as long as they are not actively recruiting the players ... as in the players are finding Inkster,
not the other way around.
But I would PREFER a team build from the 9th and 10 graders moving up as opposed to bringing a to of new juniors and seniors from surrounding cities in order to reload. ... I believe most of these kids are using the "school of choice " or "open enrollment" options .... at least one I read about with a multiple bus ride that makes his trip to school each day exceed an hour. ... is that good or bad? I don't know ... some might think it's bad .. but it does show some commitment and effort to attend the school and play for Coach Carter. |

I think you have to look at each individual transfer and their personal situation. Generally, I don't have a problem with kids transferring from a failing
school to one that is trying to improve its academic situation. I believe Inkster is trying to improve both its academics and its football program. Right
now, I'd say the football program is ahead of academics. I also believe Coach Carter has the best interest of his students ahead of any football goal.
Whether the kids are transferring solely for football is an issue for someone to decide. I don't feel Inkster is as big of a problem as OLSM, simply
because at OLSM you have the school paying for kids to transfer there as opponsed to Inkster being a free public school of choice. That is a huge difference
that is compounded further by the fact it seems like only skilled athletes are taking advantage of this generous financial aid at OLSM.

What does the over/under adjust to if Carter lands elsewhere in the meantime?
If he's committed to the academics equally with the athletics, could Uof D have him in the mix? Longshot to me with the ineligible players baggage, but Carter seems like sort of an opportunist. |

That would be a great hire for the Cubs ....
Carter obviously has some cred with the potential players in Detroit .... would U of D allow so many transfers? I doubt it .... so it might take a few extra years to build things up compared to what happened at Inkster. Would be kind of funny that Gardner transferred out of U of D to play under Carter. (from what I've read he always wanted to play for Carter and would have been a DePorres kid if they had not closed) |

A quick note on Inkster's team info for the finals ...
I couldn't help but notice the info given during the game and in the mhsaa finals information had Inkster going (9-0) for the 2007 season.... instead of (1-8) to reflect the forfeits... http://www.mhsaa.com/media/08-FB-Note-D3.pdf Were the forfeits overturned? or Did Inkster submit it this way and no one caught it? or Someone else screwed up? |

If I remember right the forfeits were over turned once Inkster turned in the correct documentation.

Here is the link that quotes Carter as saying Inkster now has 1300 students.
http://www.freep.com/arti...081205/HSS/812050362/1238 Based on this rate, they will be in D1 in no time. |

You think they will pick and choose who is allowed to come to Inkster now? Obviously the kids love Carter. It isn't recruiting, but it still isn't right that he loads up with players from all over the area. I still believe Carter can NEVER win a championship in the large Divisions. Not going to happen no matter how much talent he gets. |

I think Inkster has always had a lot of potential students but the school was so bad that many used school of choice to get out.
now they have made strides as a school and not only are keeping kids at home but are now pulling them from other districts. props to Inkster schools. |

Basically I knew that Inkster should have been Class A a long, long time ago. Here is a link for their population, which is close to 27K, which has declined
since the last official census:

then again, i would love to see what inksters schedule ends up looking like if austin does transfer there. with the mega breaking up and austin transferring
there as well, i don't know how many teams are going to want to put inkster in their schedule...
