Royal Oak Shrine 35 Lutheran Northwest 0
Both Lutheran NW and Clarenceville bowed out of the playoffs last night with season ending losses. Eventually 248 of the 256 teams that entered the playoffs will also end their seasons with a loss. That is not how these teams will be remembered, however. They will be remembered as winners. Last year Clarenceville and Northwest finished with (1-8) and (2-7) records respectively. With hard work and determination both teams had phenominal turn-arounds. The coaches and players are to be commended.
I think it was two years ago that Muskegon (8-0) met Hudsonville (8-0) in the final game of the regular season. Muskegon won that game 50-0. Was Muskegon really that much better than Hudsonville? That question was answered two weeks later when the same two teams met in the playoffs and a shocking thing happened. Hudsonville won the rematch 50-0. So, Lutheran NW, it may be hard to forget a final loss, but I hope that you will remember the season in its totality. Northwest made history this year by defeating Lutheran North for the first time ever, for winning the Metro Conference title for the first time ever, for finishing the regular season undefeated for the first time ever, and for winning a playoff game for the first time ever. As a fan of NW I am extremely proud of the boys and coaches on Lutheran NW for the Christian sportsmanship that they displayed this year and for the work that they put into making this the greatest season in the history of Lutheran NW. God's blessings to all of you!
