How long do you expect this to last (GB in the KLAA West)? I don't see it as a long term solution. The KLAA would have been better off getting a
closer school and realigning the divisions at this early stage of the league. Grand Blanc to Pinckney is 54 minutes (generic time town to town). I guess that
Howell built a School to NoWhere instead of a Bridge to NoWhere. If I'm a taxpayer in Howell, I would lead a big time revolt since obviously the people in
charge didn't do their homework. |

me to mrncaa but usually school board elections get like 10 % turnout.. people should show up and vote so things like this don't happen...

What may have tipped the scales in Grand Blanc's favor was its proximity to the other five schools in the West Division of the KLAA. There has to be other factors in choosing GB over a program like Dearborn that no one is mentioning. If proximity is the main reason .. .the people in the KLAA need to look at a map. Yes, GB is closer to the "west" division schools ... but all they had to do was make small changes and Dearborn makes a lot more sense. Dearborn is 10-11 miles or less from 4 schools in the KLAA "south" division. Grand Blanc is 20-50 miles from each KLAA West school. With Dearborn KLAA - South Dearborn Franklin Wayne Glenn Churchill Canton KLAA - Central Novi Stevenson Northville Plymouth Salem South Lyon East KLAA - West South Lyon Howell Milford Hartland Brighton Pinckney KLAA - North WLW WLC WLN Kettering Mott Lakeland Another option would be to send Lakeland to the "West" .... and Novi, SL or SLE to the North No matter what .... if someone figures out the numbers ... I bet Dearborn makes more sense when it comes to proximity than Grand Blanc Grand Blanc to division schools (about) Hartland - 27 miles Milford - 20 miles Howell - 38 miles Brighton - 37 miles Pinckney - 48 miles

Here would be my proposal with Dearborn:
KLAA Central Livonia Stevenson Northville Plymouth Plymouth Salem South Lyon South Lyon East KLAA North Novi Walled Lake Western Walled Lake Central Walled Lake Nothern Waterford Kettering Waterford Mott KLAA South Canton Dearborn Livonia Churchill Livonia Franklin Wayne Westland John Glenn KLAA West Brighton Hartland Howell Milford Pinckney White Lake Lakeland Let's try to keep some rivalry games as a division game. I'll try to come up with a way to keep all 3 Plymouth/Canton area schools in the same division. I know that it doesn't make sense on a geographic basis, but switching Canton and Livonia Stevenson would allow for divisional rivalries to take place.

There's a lot of ways that you can do it with Dearborn that work better with "proximity" than anything with Grand Blanc......
But apparently for whatever reason they went with Grand Blanc. Hopefully it works out.

when i posted this a couple of days ago i figured it would be better to post it on the klaa board since it was about the klaa
and not take up the main board but im glad searn posted it here i just didnt want to be the one to post it on the main board |

Why does everyone want to put Lakeland in the West when other schools are closer? WLN for one (closer to 96), WLW (even closer). For GB, its a simple drive
down 23 & up 23 for the others. Please take note: NO traffic lights on 23. How many going west on Michigan Ave or Ford Rd?

Lakeland is only about a mile west and a mile north of WLN. WLW on the other hand is only a few miles N of I96 on Beck Rd. They could still maintain their
"rivalry" games with WLC & WLN even if not in the same division. Actually, Milford is a better fit (distance) for the North than WLW.

Splitting up teams like Novi and Northville will never happen. That said, Searns suggestion looks palatable:
Dearborn to south Plymouth (south) to central South Lyon (central) to west |

Why put Lakeland in the west? You've got to be kidding, right. Do you know about the Milford vs. Lakeland football (and other sports) rivalry game? So
that's why I put them in the west.
To answer statman't stupid idea, you do realize that the Livonia schools plus the Plymouth/Canton/Salem are currently split up. So don't tell me that the KLAA paid attention to rivalry games when they set up the divisions in the first place. Under my alternative method, only Novi and Northville was split up rivalry wise. So let's see you do better than that. Here was the alternative method: KLAA Central Canton Northville Plymouth Plymouth Salem South Lyon South Lyon East KLAA North Novi Walled Lake Western Walled Lake Central Walled Lake Nothern Waterford Kettering Waterford Mott KLAA South Dearborn Livonia Churchill Livonia Franklin Livonia Stevenson Wayne Westland John Glenn KLAA West Brighton Hartland Howell Milford Pinckney White Lake Lakeland The Northville vs. Novi game could be played in week 1 or 2 or 9 if there is no championship week. This would still allow the week 8 crossover with a benefit of potentially scheduling more non KLAA if the schools felt like it. So my plan had more flexibility to it compared to any that I've seen so far. Note that week 9 could be championship week, too.

Rivalry games DO NOT have to be divisional games! Each team has 4 non-divisional games to fill. 3 if you include cross-overs and or championships. Even with
only 2 other games, rivalries can still be played.
