Freshmen Unranked Walkon Posts: 7 10/13/08 6:45 PM	Tags : None ... Well, why not start things off with some west coast cooking (meaning, I'm predicting, and I'm from the west coast!) 3 of the 4 Metro contests this weekend should be gimmees, so I'll count on at least a 75% pick-'em success! ...Hamtramck (0-7) at Clarenceville (6-1)... Any question about this one is put to rest with the game being played in Livonia. C'Ville keeps tuning up for the play-offs with a 42-0 win. ...Harper Woods (4-3) at Lu Northwest (7-0).... Can HW right the ship in time to slip into the playoffs? Not if high-powered NW has anything to say about it... and they will! NW, 28-7. ...Cranbrook (3-4) at Lu North (4-3)... Both teams are coming off a nice win, but North is starting to hit a higher gear. North, 35-14. ...Prep (2-5) at Lu Westland (2-5)... In the best contest of the weekend, Westland protects home turf with a 14-7 victory! ...Let the games begin!!

Sophomore Posts: 55 10/13/08 6:57 PM	I'll get in on this early. Clarenceville 42 Hamtramck 8- This game will be ugly but I believe that the mighty Cosmos are getting to the house once. Northwest 34 Harper Woods 14- Harper Woods will come to play hard because they need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. However, the NW offense is rolling and I don't see any reason why that will change. Their stud center gets in the end zone off of a fullback dive out of the jumbo package. Lutheran North 28 Cranbrook 20- In a battle of two spread teams, North keeps their playoff hopes alive. Lutheran Westland 12 UPrep 8- The Rustyless Warriors get a little bit of retirbution this week.

Sophomore Posts: 14 10/13/08 8:03 PM	*Hamtramck (0-7) at Livonia Clarenceville (6-1)* After an impressive victory over Birch Run will C'ville have a letdown? Not a chance. Clarenceville by 35 *Harper Woods (4-3) at Lutheran Northwest (7-0)* Any good football team has to have a good line. Northwest has a very good line this year. Nate Tapling, Aaron Sircy, Steve Sadler, Jack Wallace, and Kevin Hohnstadt have won the war in the trenches against every team they have faced so far. I don't see that changing for this game. A lot is on the line in this game. Harper Woods is fighting to stay in the playoff race. Northwest is fighting to win the Metro outright. Northwest by 17 *Cranbrook (3-4) at Lutheran North (4-3)* Cranbrook got some big plays in their win over Harper Woods last week. They'll need more of the same to beat Lutheran North. I don't see that happening. Lutheran North by 11 *Detroit University Prep (2-5) at Lutheran Westland (2-5)* In comparing scores of common opponents these two team seem to be nearly equal. In toss up games I like the home team. Lutheran Westland by 1 in OT

Senior Posts: 285 10/15/08 1:23 AM Varsity	Cranbrook (3-4) at Lutheran North (4-3) North has been playing well of late and won't have to play on a saturday. Cranbrook had three poorly played games before Harper last week. So...did Cranbrook improve or has Harper gotten that bad? Lutheran North 28 - Cranbrook 16 Detroit University Prep (2-5) at Lutheran Westland (2-5) Westland was impressive against Cranbrook but looked aweful vs. Northwest when they tried to run the spread the whole game and change their defense to a 3-5. U Prep has improved every week and may have too much speed for the Warriors >>> especially if they keep switching their offense and defense around. U Prep 18 - Westland 13 Hamtramck (0-7) at Livonia Clarenceville (6-1) - Hamtramck played poorly last week against North and Clarenceville will look to tune up for ND Prep next week Clarenceville 39 - Hamtramck 12 Harper Woods (4-3) at Lutheran Northwest (7-0) Northwest players won't forget the spanking Harper put on them last year and will not want a share of the conference title. Freshmen Unranked Walkon Posts: 12 10/15/08 11:40 AM	Why so negative Primetime? Westland has seen what Northwest has done, taken their best athlete and made him quarterback and spread the field. Isn't that the whole point of the spread, to get more players out of the box. Why can't Westland? Was Westland gonna beat the Crusaders running the wing t or double wing and diving into the strength of the Northwest team. Come on PT why so negative? So they tried a 3-5, is that much different than a 5-3? Did it decide the outcome of the game? Come on PT why so negative??? Shouldn't we applaud a team trying something different when they are clearly overmatched by an opponent?

Senior Posts: 286 10/15/08 12:40 PM Varsity	Negative? Just stating the obvious... Didn't Westland already beat a spread team with Cranbrook and they did that in their 4-3 defense. Weren't they "outmatched" also against Clarenceville? So why didn't they switch then? Sorry it doesn't make sense to go away from your bread and butter plays. I could understand trying to confuse Northwest for the first couple of drives or even the first quarter but if it didn't work...so go back to what you do best! Yes the spread does get more players out of the box but if you can't throw the ball at all the defenses will still load the box up - and Westland can't throw well at all and really don't have any deep threats to catch any balls. So there will be no applauding from me for that - they out-coached themselves that game.

Sophomore Posts: 59 10/15/08 11:49 PM	Westland's defense confused Northwest for a little while in the first quarter. But soon after, Northwest just ran them over. So i definitely agree with PrimeTime. I could understand staying in the 3-5 if they were getting passed on, but almost all of the damage that Northwest was doing was courtesy of runs by Rolf. From the games that i've seen Westland play, their passing game was non-existent. So i don't know how you can run the spread offense when you don't have a solid quarterback nor any type of receiving threat. Sounds to me like a case of them trying to be too fancy

Freshmen Unranked Walkon Posts: 19 10/16/08 9:53 AM	Cranbrook did not run the spread vs. Westland this year. Westland did a great job defending, especially in the second half with some nice adjustments. Cranbrook has not run the spread since the Hamtramck game in week 4.

Freshmen Unranked Walkon Posts: 4 10/16/08 6:35 PM	primetime, 4 wideouts doesnt necessarily mean it was a spread offense. they dont run a true spread anymore. now, they are a more traditional team offensively, making heavy use of wingbacks, tight ends and fullbacks, and frankly, it fits their personnel much better than the spread did. it may be too little too late this year, but give them a full preseason with this new offense, and they should improve exponentially.

Freshmen Unranked Walkon Posts: 4 10/16/08 9:13 PM	all right there have only been a few predictions with all this fighting going on, but i think i will make one now Cranbrook vs North- North keeps getting better and better, cranbrook isn't to bad and will prolly have some momentum carried over from their win against Harper Cranbrook by 7 University Prep vs Westland- Going to be a good one but i think Westland will pull it off Westland by 6 Hamtramck vs Clarenceville- Not going to be pretty Hamtramck has no chance against C'ville C'ville by 35 Harper Woods vs Northwest- Harper has either been in a slump or they could just be getting worse, and Northwest is still goin full force Northwest by 24

UPrep vs. Westland-- Both got wrecked by NW, but UPrep seems to be showing some improvement... so UPrep by 7 C'Ville vs. Hamtown. C'ville by 28. NW vs Harper. Northwest is going to clinch the conference outright. NW by 18 (2 safeties)

Junior Posts: 124 10/17/08 11:48 AM	Hamtramck (0-7) at Livonia Clarenceville (6-1) - As long as the Homecoming festivities doesn't distract Clarenceville. This one should be over early. Harper Woods (4-3) at Lutheran Northwest (7-0) - Which Harper team will show up? It looks to me as if the wheels have come off. Even if HW does come out all hyped up, it will hurt them because they will all run up field and Rolf will do what he does best and cut it up underneath behind his big blockers. NW wins here. Cranbrook (3-4) at Lutheran North (4-3) - North has gained some confidence and will use this game to put them in playoff contention for next week's game against Richmond. Detroit University Prep (2-5) at Lutheran Westland (2-5) - Slightly tough call here, I saw Westland is a little more disciplined and will look to hold onto the ball and keep it out of the hands of the Prep athletes.
