Here is the complete info. A bunch of changes so do take time to read through.

Pre-District Host retains 40% of gross & pays all local expenses. Remainder of gross sent to MHSAA, minus amount to pay offi-cials. MHSAA forwards 10% of gross to opponent who pays own travel.

District Host retains 25% of gross & pays all local expenses. Remainder of gross sent to MHSAA, minus amount to pay officials. MHSAA forwards 10% of gross to opponent who pays own travel.

Regionals Host to retain 20% of gross & pays all local expenses. Remainder of gross sent to MHSAA, minus amount to pay officials. MHSAA forwards 10% of gross to opponent who pays own travel.

Semifinals Pre-determined sites. Host retains 20% of gross and pays all local expenses. Remainder of gross sent to MHSAA, minus amount to pay officials. MHSAA sends $500 to each school, plus $500 hotel & mileage reimbursements by formula when necessary.

Finals No change in current policy. No minimums for host or opponents. Includes line to gain officials ("chain crew", not scorer or ti-mer). MHSAA pays $500 if hotel is required & mileage bonus as follows: 151 to 250 miles one way = $500 251+ miles one way = another $500

Audit of Tournament Host Reports - Upon recommendation of the MHSAA auditors, effective with the 2008-09 school year, all MHSAA tournament sports sites are subject to audit. The MHSAA will provide tickets to all host sites. Host managers are to use the supplied tickets and return all unsold tickets to the MHSAA for audit within 10 business days following the tournament.
Host financial reports are due 30 days after the final game in this tournament.

Overnight Lodging Fees
A stipend of $500 will be paid in all rounds of the playoffs to teams which are required by distance and/or schedule to have an overnight stay which is approved by MHSAA staff.

Also of note is the visitor and home for finals and before.

Semifinal winners from Regions 1 and 2 will be home teams and wear dark colored jerseys. Winners from Semifinal Regions 3 and 4 games will be visitors and will wear light colored jerseys.

For Semifinals: Home teams teams from Regions 1 &3 are to wear dark jerseys; visiting teams from Regions 2 &4 are to wear light jerseys.

Also of note this year is the preselling of final tickets for schools, schools are encouraged to bring a check for the number of advanced game tickets they wish to purchase. Per Representative Council action member schools will retain 50¢ per ticket sold in advance sale. Complete ticket sharing information will be included in the formal financial forms supplied to each team competing in the Finals.

Here is another tidbit about preselling of game tickets, Each competing school at the Pre-District, District, Regional and Semifinals may purchase an allotment of tickets, not to exceed 40 percent of the stadium capacity, from the host manager.

For game officials they are going to be getting millage as well, here is what they get. Pre-District, District, Regional and Semifinal officials will receive $8 minimum for the first 50 miles traveled round trip. Mileage in excess of 50 miles will be paid at the rate of 20 cents per mile. This is on top of their fee of $45 for districts, 50 for regionals and 55 for semis and finals.

If a booster pays for the travel the money that would normally be shelled out to the school would just stay with the MHSAA I presume. The aspect of cost I think this is a little better for the Class A schools. They will get a lot more money. Class Bs will get some more, but Class Cs and Ds well lets just say it stinks for them. The reasoning is the aspect that unless they get a HUGE local support the schools wont get jack when it comes to money. Class A will get more since on the whole they get a lot more support from the community. I would gather that at least 2500 to 5000 people per game would be in attendence. That means a lot more for the class A schools. The key thing is that the semis are reduced by a large amount. Thats just bank roll for the MHSAA. By only have to shell out 1000 to 2000 dollars for those games they would only need around 600 people in attendence just to break even for the game if they can get local officials.

I do think that at 10% of the gate going for travel will be decent provided they get good fuel millage. Considering that fuel is at around $4.00 per gallon and they may be lucky and get 10 mpg. That means it will cost a school using just 2 busses going 50 miles about 40 dollars just for the fuel. This does include the driver which is at least $15 dollars per hour. Given a 50 mile drive would rate about 1 hour of driving and that they tend to have to stay at the facility you are looking at holding time. Not sure if the school would pay for the driver to sit but if they do you are looking at 5pm to probally 11am. Thats about 6 hours of pay for two drivers which ends up being $90 dollars. Given tax and everything else you are actually paying at least $225 for those two drivers. So travel costs are sitting at 265 for cost. Now each additional 50 miles would need an additional $115.

Given those costs, a travel team needs at least 530 fans in attendence to just cover the cost of travel under 50 miles. For each additional 50 miles they would need an additional 230 fans. now For people who think I way too much time on my hands, I am a math wize and as such it is easier for me to do this. Now remember this is based on a normal 2 bus team. Costs would be more for larger teams and less for smaller teams.

ncaa last time I checked diesel is still around 4 dollars a gallon. It is still cheaper than gasoline since a diesel engine tends to be about 50% more efficiant than gasoline versions doing the same job. Since most if not all busses use diesel well there you go. BTW a bus gets about the same fuel millage as my F-150 gas truck.
