Just took a look. 1. What does the "Open League" game mean early in the season? I saw numerous teams had "Open League" somewhere on their schedule. I understand the late season crossovers/championships .. but mid/early season. What's the difference between that and "Game Wanted"2. No London CC? 3. For that "Game Wanted" date ... looks like it's going to have to be an out of state game. ... the only other team with "Game Wanted" is Cardinal Mooney.CC must not want to go out of state for a game, which is why they don't have a full schedule.

Schedules | #4 | ||||||

Searn,
You should have posted a link to the schedules rather than put them in consecutive postings. It's too hard to follow the replies in the thread. The follow-up postings are overwhelmed by the schedules. FYI, I've already gone through the entire schedule and have a list of 2008 Big Games. I'll be posting them today on www.prepseer.com as soon as my site is up again after some routine maintenance. Check it out later today. As usual, there are some great games this season. For CC fans, unless somebody new takes over scheduling, this year could be a big black eye for the Shamrocks. For starters, I would contact Flint Southwestern for a Week 3 game. It appears that Grand Blanc is breaking its contract with FSW to play UDJ. That could be an opening for CC. While it's not a great game, it's better than the option, which is to play a seven game schedule. CC needs to start scheduling games for 2009 right now. |

Hope the fix helped. I wanted to post the schedules here just for a secondary link opposed to the mhsaa site, so people have a place to take a look when their site is down
and/or slow.

Searn wrote: That's better. Good idea on the alternate site. I couldn't access the schedules yesterday from the MHSAA site. The only way I could find them
was through the Michigan Helmet site, which had a link to the MHSAA schedule for each team's helmet. Nice work by statman24.

I'm guessing Lake Orion was the odd team out this year when it came to the OAA crossovers .... as it looks like the rest of the OAA Red opens with crossovers. I'm not sure Adams had much choice, .... same goes for Dakota in the MACBut if asked I would guess that the teams that Dakota is set to crossover against (Port Huron, LCN, etc.) would grant a release from the game if Dakota wanted to go out and find another game. Or is that against the MAC rules? I have no clue The problem in leagues such as the OAA is the coaches want less league games/crossovers ... but the ADs keep overruling them as to make their job easier in terms of scheduling.

schedules and open dates | #8 | ||||||
|
michigan-football.com has updated its 2008 schedule information now that the MHSAA schedules are out. They also have a nice Open Dates listing. Good job
John.
In Week One, it appears that Inkster will be playing Zeeland West. Nice game. If that rumor is not true, Inkster should pick up a game with Detroit Henry Ford. That would also be a good match-up.

I know I have said this before but I
would pay NFL ticket prices to see Dakota play Muskegon or Brother Rice etc. I think 1 early tough non conference game could help to get
the team ready for the playoffs but at the same time it has not hurt them the last few years playing an all MAC conference regular season
schedule. Yes the MAC Red is not the best league in the state but it is right up there and most seasons playing CV, Ike and SHS can be
quite the gauntlet. Look at a team like CV in 2004 they went 5-4, advanced to the regional final and lost a close game to Dakota 7-0. In
2005 they went 5-4 and missed the playoffs. Just like the NFL playoffs or NCAA tournament once you get in anything can happen and it
seems like that is one of the goals of the MAC ad's by going with the current format for scheduling. Also prepseer maybe the brutal
schedule was too much for Rice to handle last year and it semmed to take it's toll, had they lightened up the schedule a bit maybe
they would have had more left in the tank when they ran into Rochester Adams, and if FHH isn't an elite program than who
is?

I just wanted a link from Searn on how to get there from a MHSAA main page since I noticed statman24's post on Prepseer's blog. Instead he posted them
on here. I've noticed a ton of errors already - more than 2 handfuls where the date is wrong or the game location conflicts with the other teams location.
This is why my MHSAA contact person said that there were more than 10 pages worth of errors the other day. If you didn't figure it out, Warren Connor
Creek was one of the two schools that didn't send in their schedule. What John doesn't do on his website is list the proper home and away team. He
just alphabetizes it. So I definitely wouldn't rely on that for game location.

I didn't see the link on mhsaa.com ... I guess they are still working on it ... so they didn't make the link 'public'
or maybe its on there somewhere and I couldn't find it. I just did a google search to find them myself.

Id sure like to know who it is that you know at the MHSAA....
There is absolutely NO link anywhere on their site that allows you to get to this schedule listing......they had to provide you a secret link in order to post them................ |

Agreee, there is no way to get to the schedule from football page on the MHSAA site. Go to Michigan Helmet's site and click on the MHSAA button on any
helmet and you're in to the schedule. Once there, you can navigate to the various teams or weeks.

Tough Schedules | #15 | ||||||
|
Footballer67,
You make some good points and I agree with most of them. Dakota certainly has done well without playing the tough non-conference schedule. Yes, they do have a strong conference schedule, just as the CHSL Central and OK Red teams do, but those two leagues also play strong non-conference schedules. I realize that's no guarantee of a state championship, but it is nice for the fans of those teams to enjoy the best possible football. I do think Dakota benefitted a bit from being Division I, because I think there has been a consensus agreement that Division II has had better teams in recent years. E.G. Look who Dakota had to beat in the Semis--the fourth place CHSL team. The first, second and third place teams were Division 2 or 3. I don't think Rice was hurt by its tough schedule. The Adams game could have gone either way and Adams was a very good team. As for Harrision, if State Championships are the benchmark for an elite program, they certainly are one. Winning at a lower level does beg the question as to whether they are or have been one of the state's best teams overall. I certainly admire the Harrison program, but I don't think they are among the very best. They are among the very best in Div. 3, however. I do know that Brother Rice would like to play Macomb Dakota, perhaps in the season opener. |

CC may have been the 4th place team but I would argue that there was little to no difference 1-4 in the CHSL Central this past year. CC lost by 5 to Rice(2nd
place) and I believe the CC D did not surrender a TD in that game. CC beat OLSM (1st place) and split with DLS (3rd place). At the end of the year I think CC
was playing as good of football as anyone in the CHSL Central. and took care of business against Holt (AP D1 # 3 in the state) on the road. They also had the
most dominant player in the CHSL in Mike Martin. I will take your word for it regarding the Rice loss to Adams but I know that Rice did suffer some injuries
this past year and traveled alot more than most MI teams which could have an impact later in the season as far as conditioning and team continuity. We will
never know if Dakota benefited from being in D1 but they have had to beat some pretty good non MAC programs in the run they have been on these last few years
including Rockford,CC,Lake Orion,Clarkston, and Livonia Stevenson. I would have loved a +1 format these last couple of years to see Dakota/Musky or Dakota/MLK.

It might come as a shock to prepseer but FHH has won just as many titles as BBR in the Class A classification since I counted at least 5 of them:
So they deserve just as much respect as BBR does if not more.
I tentatively came up with 15 out of my 32 Super 32 week 1 games of the week predictions. So I still need to gather some more but wanted to make sure that I had the best out of the best already.

Well Biased.....I'll have you know that I am not an idiot.............................I've been surfing the web for quite a few years now and quite
successfully I might add (especially for the very hard to find info that only I have been able to find)...........Have you ever seen my basketball updates?
It makes it kinda difficult when a public institution such as the MHSAA releases information to a select few and does not allow others access to it..........I've been searching the MHSAA site since late April every day (many times 3 or 4 times a day) in search of the football schedules, mostly since they released them in early May last year. I know of many "backdoor" methods into websites and have found them in other states as well. |

I agree with HSSportsGuru. Basically my MHSAA contact person didn't say a word to me when the schedules were going to be online since there were so many
errors in it. He just told me to pass the word on to be patient since there were so many errors in it. I did so on Friday night when I got home from the
historical library in Lansing with a stop at the MHSAA to boot. This is why I was suprised when statman24 did a post on the schedule thread in Prepseer's
forum and I didn't want Searn's forum to be left behind so I emailed him how to get them directly from the MHSAA website. I knew how to access them
from the Michigan High School Football Helmet website. I just wanted to know how statman24 got them since I can't locate them on a direct link as well.
I've been going to the MHSAA website since May 1st to look for them since I knew when I did the week 1 game predictions for last year or at least posted my
games in the blog which was May 8th if my memory is right.
