Fatburger and Sonic ... Now, I don't really "like" any fast food around ... but sometimes you are on the go, and you need to eat something. I'm interested to check out Sonic due to all the raving about it people that are not from Michigan do about it. Which ones do you really like ... .and which ones do you avoid at all costs? My lists of the common places ... Best (most edible) Subway Tubbys Baja Fresh Not that bad (somewhat edible) Mr. Pita Taco Bell Rio Wraps Steak and Shake Pot Bellys Quiznos Arbys KFC A & W Blimpie Bates Greene's Hunter House If I must (barely edible) Burger King Wendys Checkers No way (not quite edible) McDonalds White Castle By the way ... BD's Mongolian BBQ is probably my favorite overall restaurant at the current time. EDIT: Decided to update my list after suggestions and more thought. Junior Posts: 193 04/02/08 6:06 AM Varsity	Having been to Sonic many times I will say their food is top notch I hope they put one in on the Westside as well. As for my favorite fast food it has to be Culvers or Steak and Shake for me.

I'd put it somewhere in the middle. I think the plan for Sonic is to start with a bunch in Wayne county ... I have not heard of any plans beyond that as of now. I'm not that big on Jimmy Johns since aside from say chicken, steak or pizza sub of some kind ... I prefer my sandwiches cold. I'm not sure if it's my "favorite" overall ... but right now it's my thing. Anywhere one can get a good steak is probably my #1 overall. I like BD's because I know what I like. Random pre-determined meals on a menu at most places usually have some "flaws" - for my own taste. At BD's there is no "this would be good if this... .or this would be better if that". It's all on the consumer to put together what you like, the way you like it. Their motto should be "If you don't like BD's Mongolian BBQ, it's your own fault!" If you have spent any time in the kitchen and now how to season your food, it is almost impossible to have a bad meal there. Jimmy John's easily out distances any of the other sub joints. PF Chengs - the clear head and shoulders leader in Chinese/Asian food. Mitchell's Fish Market - Some of the best seafood from a restaurant that is not "sea side". Ruth's Chris - Find me a better steak! Benihana's - The ideal first date restaurant. Good food, good atmosphere.

It's a country french spot with a good, affordable wine list. I think the two Michael Mina restaurants in the MGM Grand (Bourbon Steak and Saltwater) are the two best restaurants overall in Detroit. I've been to both and you can't get a better meal anywhere. Expect to pay upwards of $100 pp. As for the classics, I still like Roma Cafe. And, I still miss the London Chop House. For burgers, Miller's Bar is hard to beat, except they haven't brought their beer choices into the 21st Century. Pizza. It's hard to find a good one here. You have to go to New Haven, New York or Chicago. I'm hoping the new Bistro license will finally bring some good restuarants to Birmingham. They are starving for quality food/wine at a reasonable price. Forte is the most overrated restaurant in Oakland County. Fortunately, I spend a lot of time in Chicago. What a fabulous restaurant city. Detroit pales by comparision. Of couse, Detroit pales by comparison to just about any major city in this country in just about every category.

The most "unique" high school football concession item I have ever had. Chicken Wings - at Southfield High School. I was so surprised to see them on the menu, I had no choice but to give it a try. Probably the least impressive is when I went to Clarkston, which consisted of basically Hot Dogs and Nachos. They also have a great steak, but a lot of the menu is country french, but again, not fancy french. If your comment about steak referred to Bourbon Steak, I can strongly recommend it. You can get a good steak at the major steak houses: Capital Grill, Morton's, Ruth's Chris, etc., but Bourbon has more unique offerings plus great appetizers and desserts. If you can get out of the casino whole, it's worth trying Bourbon Steak (Saltwater too if fish and seafood are your preferences).

Ah, I've heard GREAT things about the burgers at Red Coat, ... somewhere in Royal Oak/Woodward somewhere? I do not gamble and rarely go to the Detroit sporting events downtown, so unfortunately my dining in Detroit is basically limited to the settings such as Hockeytown .... but this topic might be some new motivation to make a trip. I think Seaholm has one of the better concession stands. The moms usually have some homemade items available. I heard that Novi had a taste fest at a game last year with area restaurants bringing their specialties. If true, that is a unique idea for high school football games. Maybe Statman24 can confirm. I also remember a large portable BBQ grill at a OLSM game with ribs, burgers and chicken available.

All-Searn Hall of Fame Posts: 5120 04/02/08 1:44 PM MHSAA Football Stats	First, I don't know the names of a couple of places, but will list them on here: 1. a smoothie place on Dixie Hwy. near Outback Steakhouse in the Waterford/Independence Township/Clarkston area (east of Maybee Road) which open around late January - they serve salads, sandwiches, and soups as well. 2. a Hawaiian place on Big Beaver in Troy off of I75 to the east. It is on the north side of the road. It serves some kabobs for me plus some tropical drinks LOL!!!! 3. Leos on Sashabaw Road near Waldron is similar to National Coney Island menu only it is a ton closer to the high school. 4. I have some more non Clarkston ones but won't list them so they won't get too busy. Just for Searn - there is a Subway, Rio Wraps, and Quiznos along Sashabaw Road as well now.
