To view 2009 open dates, go to the link below. Not all schedules posted on MHSAA are complete yet, especially Detroit PSL. Of course, many of these open dates
have already been filled, it's just that the schools have not updated their schedules on www.highschoolsports.net yet. Out of State schools will be added
as soon as possible.

Searn,
I just noticed that the posted link will not work simply by clicking on it. I've have posted links like this in the past and they've worked. Any ideas as to why this one will not work? ( I tried posting the link 3 times, ie copy and paste, but it still doesn't work...strange!!) |

I'll try for you. Do you have the "Convert URLs" on down below since that is on and has worked for me in the past?
http://up-football.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11080&p=114800#p114800 Perhaps you needed to go one line past the url for it to appear as a link since the same thing happened to me just now.

I'm not sure why but for whatever reason you have to use the hyperlink tool on the toolbar, I think this changed when we went to the Yuku format from
EZboard.
For some reason I believe simply posting the URL text only works using the "Quick Reply" |

By the way ... I think it should work without using the tool only if you copy and paste the link from another source.

Some interesting updates: Pontiac High will be playing Detroit Country Day week 9. Melvindale Academy for Business and Tech fielding a varsity team this year and playing: at Orchard Lake St. Mary in week 3; at Midland Dow week 4; at Dryden week 7; and at Muskegon Catholic Central week 8. Detroit Kettering and Inkster, still listed with open dates for week 3, should be a good pairing. Detroit PSL has an odd number of teams now that Chadsey is closed.

Melvindale-Academy for Business & Tech N 238 238 Melvindale ABT will be a D7 team provided that they can find enough games to play this year. Otherwise I am leaving them off the Average Division Breakpoint list since they haven't scheduled enough games yet to qualify for the playoffs. |

Updates:
The MHSAA schedules has Melvindale ABT playing at Flint Northwestern in week 4, and still has an open date for Midland Dow for week 4. Also, the following has to be from the "I find it very hard to believe department": per www.highschoolsports.net/, it lists St. Joseph Michigan Lutheran playing Aurora (IL) Central Catholic week 4 on Sat. Sept 19 at Valparaiso University. HSS.net lists this game for both schools' 2009 football schedules. IF this is true, this would give the Titans 6 varsity games for 2009 and still 2 JV contests. They would still have an open date in week 6. The hard part to believe is that the Chargers of A.C.C. are part of a major Catholic League in the suburbs of Chicago. The Illinois HSAA lists A.C.C.'s enrollment at an "unofficial" 484 for the 2009 season. The IHSAA uses a multiplier when putting parochial schools into the statewide playoffs for football. I believe this multiplier is something like 1.65, meaning the IHSAA takes all non-public schools' enrollments and multilplies it by 1.65, and that result is the "enrollment" figure that the IHSAA uses to determine which division Illinois High Schools are placed into for playoffs. The Titans will playing their very first season of varsity football. And this proposed game is like matching David with Goliath. I guess in Michigan, we can compare this game to Muskegon Catholic Central hosting Melvindale A.B.T.

Sorry but I guess that I misunderstood your SEN number. WIth the muliplier it is around 785 or so. Plus Illinois has the split the difference SEN number as
well, but for MHSAA purposes will use that 484 number. So basically it would be a very large Class C school for MHSAA purposes.

Warren Conner Creek Academy West looks like it will be cancelling it's 2009 season. The Eagles forfeited it's first 2 games last season before playing
out the string. The opponents that WCCAW had on it's schedule now face an open date. Here was WCCAW's schedule (with my proposed new opponent for those
schools):
week 1: Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett (vs Detroit Allen Academy) week 2: Peck (vs Webberville) week 3: Dearborn Heights Star International Academy (vs Redford Covenant) week 4: River Rouge (vs Detroit Southwestern) week 5: Ypsilanti Willow Run (per MHSAA, they will now play Melvindale Academy for Business and Tech) week 6: Detroit Old Redford Academy (vs Columbus (OH) Bishop Ready) week 7: Romulus Summit Academy (vs Detroit Allen Academy) week 8: WCCAW had an open date here week 9: Ecorse (vs Melvindale Academy for Business and Tech) |

Some changes:
Week 1 - Brethren and Manistee Catholic are playing each other in a non-league game. Week 7 - BR Crossroads is playing Evart's JV team (big clue - Thursday night game). |

For lack of a better place to post this, here is a schedule for 8man for Flint Michigan School for the Deaf. This is the first time they have sponsored
football since the mid 80's.
08-27: 09-03: 09-10: 09-17: at Carsonville-Port Sanilac 09-24: Akron-Fairgrove 10-01: Owendale-Gagetown 10-08: 10-15: at Akron-Fairgrove 10-17: Ohio School for the Deaf 10-22: Wisconson School for the Deaf 10-29: at Owendale-Gagetown It's too bad that they play C.-P.S. only once this year. If they played twice, then the North Central Thumb league could have invited them to be in the 8man conference race this year. Both Ohio and Wisconsin Schools for the Deaf play 11man football every year. These might just scrimmages for them, but count as a full game for the Tartars. Note: they play 2 games within 3 days. I do believe that for 11man football, the MHSAA requires at least 4 full days off between games. They might waive that rule for 8 man.

Also, per highschoolsports.net, Midland Dow has found an opponent for it's week 4 open date: Bradley-Bourbonnais (IL). B-B played against Hudsonville last year. B-B is located south of Chicago near Kankakee. The Boilermakers have a 2009 enrollment of 2118, making it a Class A school if it was in Michigan. The game is schedule for Midland Community Stadium on Sat. Sept 19th. However, per mapquest, the mileage from B-B high school to Dow high school is 315 miles, which is more than the 300 mile limit the MHSAA has. Did the Chargers get a waiver from the MHSAA in order to play this game? It will be wait and see on that issue. Per the Illinois HSAA, B-B originally had a week 4 game scheduled against Chicago CICS/Ellison. BUT, the IHSAA lists Ellison's football program as being considered only to be at the JV level this year. |

Midland Dow could have found a good team in-state. According to most sources, Detroit Southwestern has an open date Week 4 as well.

Per highschoolsports.net, Both Berrien Springs (week 6) and Edwardsburg (week 7) have filled their open dates.
They both will be hosting a school called: Chicago University of Chicago Charter School-Woodlawn. See link: http://www.ihsa.org/school/schools/2907.htm IHSAA does not list a 2009 football schedule for the Torches so not much more is known about UCCS-Woodlawn.

No big surprise here, right? We see that all the time. However, there is a seperate listing for UCCS-Woodlawn (with the same address as Univ of Chicago CS) with one football game posted: Fri 10/09/09 @ Hiawatha Jr/Sr High School. This is the same date as the Edwardsburg game. I love a good mystery, but I love consistency too... |
