I named the regions so I could keep track of them, I don't think they are actually "named" in the NIT. Sophomore Posts: 53 01/06/09 1:45 AM	Not sure if there are any ripe upset matches in the Midwest, but I could 3 upsets easy in the East. It really tests the big school vs small school philosophy... On the one hand, a smaller Warren Lincoln could very well knock off the larger Mumford. But can an Ubly take down an Oxford? Can a Standish-Sterling take down a Fitzgerald?

It gets very difficult to try and decided what "good" Div 5 or 6 team to put in when in the back of your head you're thinking, "well is this fair ....I mean, could this team beat Port Huron? Like, at what point "size wise" do you start putting MAC Blue teams in over 9-0 small schools?? And then you get into the even tougher decision of the worst MAC Red team vs the best MAC Blue team...???

Based on the rankings discussions ... I knew the "selection committee"(aslanprime) was not as big on Caledonia as I am, while it's debatable whether they were a "Super 32" team I thought for sure they'd make the field of 64. Then again in the NCAA tournament I believe there's always a bunch of teams in the NIT that are clearly better than some teams that make the big dance.... so it happens. Tough draw so far .... based on seeing half the field of 64 .... In my opinion the two strongest teams so far ended up in the West "pod" ... one of the favorites is going home early. Definitely top 72...but I don't know what they did that warrants all the press. Next Round: Midwest #1 Seed Traverse City St. Francis 10-0 vs. #4 Seed Beal City 9-1 #2 Seed Ovid-Elsie 9-1 vs. #6 Seed Remus Chippewa Hills 10-0 East #1 Seed Detroit Mumford 8-2 vs. #5 Seed Oxford 9-1 #2 Seed Standish-Sterling 10-0 vs. #3 Seed Jackson Lumen Christi 8-2 I think the JLC vs S-S game looks the most intriguing. Two teams that made it to the same level but lost to different teams, definitely interesting. I think Mumford will be tested by a strong Oxford squad and even Traverse City St. Francis should get a test by a Beal City that put up 20 on MCC.

And Caledonia definitely has the edge over Iron Moutnain. Detroit Cody will probably be too big for Leslie to get past and I'll give Adrian the slight edge over Marshall. The best chance for an upset (numerically) has to be Adrian. But as to an upset of what I think will happen, Marshall probably has the tools to steal one against the bigger Adrian. The West looks to be the toughest bracket, while the South looks to be the easiest. I think Cody is the only high seed that may be able to just run the table without a battle...and they may just be able to do it on size alone. But to make it to the finals, the team out of the South will be tested, probably by either Montague or Caledonia.

Sophomore Posts: 59 01/18/09 3:40 AM	I think St. Francis has enough to take down Ovid-Elsie. I think it would be close. Mumford versus JLC, now that's a tough one. JLC ain't what they used to be...and Mumford is a class A program that held their own against decent talent. That being said, JLC looked pretty good too. Toss up. I definitely will give the edge to Montague over Caledonia...but I can't give it to them by much. Caledonia is certainly capable of taking them down. I think Adrian should give Cody a test, but Cody certainly has the goods to move on in the weakest division.

As for the other game...I'm not a big fan of JLC...but can St. Francis take them down? I guess if they took down Ovid-Elsie...they could take down Lumen Christi. But should be a good one.
