I am skeptical. Gotta be more to it. I suspect that some clash somewhere made them make this move based on principle. Or he/they simply end up at another school in short order.

I have no doubt that he loved his players and his players loved him. That's the case in any successful program. However, I suspect that there was some contributing factor. Parents of players, the Principal, and the AD are possible areas of conflict with any head coach. It just seems odd that after his two best seasons ever and with AW coming back for a Senior year, that he and two key assistants would all three simultaneously lose the fire to coach. I read the Observer story (as you seemingly did as well), and I understand the provided statement and provided reasoning. But it just seems like there is more to it.

Junior Posts: 92 12/16/08 6:44 PM	to be honest, even the players dont even know all that is going on. but some of the speculation is that with gabel out, Shaw might decide to apply to Howell (his hometown team), and Newman (whose best friend is Gabel), would like to focus on his current family. I do know a side note, that Nichols, who is currently a Baseball Assistant at SHS, and was the SLHS Def. Cord. last year, applied for the head coaching job.
