Having been at Spartan Stadium yesterday, I think your premise is idiotic!
The shame should be hung on Muskegon - - - hung heavily! Rated #1 in the state. Ranked nationally. Obviously superior. The game ought not to have been decided by blind luck. The Cardinals deserve credit for their performance. I have seen teams and individuals choke over many decades of watching high school athletics - - - even beyond the Michigan scene. The Davison kids did not choke. AND, frankly, I don't think much of you for making the accusation!!!! |

Muskegon certainly gift wrapped one .... and Davison even left some points on the board in the first half when they got inside the 15 yard line twice and
didn't come away with any points when was 14-7.
Congrats to Muskegon. Sometimes it's just as impressive to see a team come back from adversity as it is to see them defeat someone 42-0. Choke? I don't know. |

I respect your guys' opinion. I just think up 35-13 (35-19 with a couple minutes left) and they score 25 unanswered points regardless of how good the
team is. that can be considered a choke. Davison was not ready to be at just ford field yet. I think this game will be great for the future of the Davison
football program. and For you not thinking much of me? I live in Davison. I graduated from Davison a couple years ago. I love this town and love the sports
program. I think it is one of the premier sports programs in the state. For you to trash me like that is uncalled for but oh well.

It was more than called for! The Davison kids did a super job in my book! There should be no criticism of their effort. If I were their coach, all the buttons
on my shirt would pop from pride in the effort they gave for their team and school.
By the way, these comments don't come from a +!#%*$% know-nothing amateur. |

I dont think saying that it was a choke job is criticizing them. They played their hearts out and was only 4 minutes away from pulling off a major upset. Im
sure putnam was very proud of them. This wasnt even suppose to be a game. Everybody said, including myself, that this game was gonna be over by halftime.
Unfortunately as i said before, they just werent ready to be at ford field, their eyes got huge at the sight of the 35-13 and they choked it away. I dont
really know how this doesnt constitute being called a choke. Could you please explain it to me, so that i may be as wise as you sir?

Let's not misunderstand, choke doesn't mean lack of effort or poise. It's a series of missed executions or opportunities when most needed.
The fact remains, they had significant leads (22 points with 4 minutes to play, and a 16 pooint lead with 2 minutes) and couldn't seal the deal. They couldn't make a single play in those last 4 minutes. They just needed one play on a kickoff, or a defensive stop. To ask the question differently: In terms of Muskegon's dramatic come from behind win, was it perhaps the most unlikely and dramatic case of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in State semi-final history? It just might be. It can't feel good to be on the receiving end of that turn of events. |

Please! "Choke" means precisely what we see in the dictionary. To choke means we feel the tightening in the throat that manifests incipient panic and
loss of poise. From my military days, I recall the term "pucker factor". Same principle. Your wimpified definition flies in the face of this
world's realities.

So you dont think Davison started to panic when they saw Muskegon wasnt completely done yet?
I think you stand alone on the fact that you didnt find it impressive for Muskegon to pull a comeback of that magnitude. Just because you're "elderly" does NOT mean you're opinion is automatically the right one. I agree with pavlov. They missed plenty of opportunities to put this game away and pull the biggest upset in a long, long time. Muskegon practically handed the game to them and they just handed it right back over and over. All they needed was one stop in the last half of the 4th quarter and they couldnt do it. Plenty of missed tackles and mistakes lost the game for Davison. Not a choke, but definitely a big-time missed opportunity. |

Nice write up eagleCHAMP. I guess we just see choking differently. But overall I completely agree with you and pavlov. Would meltdown have been a better word
to use? lol This loss is gonna sting for a long long time for everybody in this community.

Well, it could do one of two things for the program.
It could either light a fire under their butts and they can use it for extra motivation next time. OR, it could completely destroy them. Which one happens will be up to the coaching staff and the underclassmen.
It's okay when you're respected, but when you're feared, that's when you've got the power.--Frank Lucas

They say Scott Norwood "choked" in Super Bowl XXV. Was he not trying hard enough? Was he not focusing like he should? I say he just didn't
execute appropriately. It so happens that the spotlight was such that it meant more than it would have in a September game, or even in a blowout at any time of
year. Hence, due to timimg, it was defined as a choke.

This is as bad as when Gary Danielson used to be on 1270 am and argue with Eli and Kirk Gibson whether there was such thing as "Momentum" in sports.

Putnam is one of the best coaches in the state in my humble opinion. He makes some bone-headed calls sometimes that gets criticized but what coach doesnt?. Im
not exactly right but i believe it is 7 straight big 9 (6,5,4 <-- teams left in conference last couple years) titles. Hasnt lost a big 9 game since 2003 (25
game streak i think). all this with a handful of playoff caliber teams in the conference. Even a state champ in Powers a couple years ago. 4 Semi Final
appearances since 02. He will have the kids playing well next year and use this as motivation. Plus Jake Thompson proved himself as a leader and could easily
be one of the best QBs in the state in the coming seasons.
