White Lake Lakeland VS. Warren De La Salle |
Lead | ||
|
Well for all of those non-believers out there who called Lakeland losing to Brother Rice last week (sadly myself included), what are your calls this week? De
La Salle beat Brother Rice in a close game of 9-7 in Week 6. My call Lakeland in a hard hitting nail-biter, that comes down to the last play. Good luck Eagles.

Lakeland suprised alot of people last friday including myself... and including Brother Rice fans and players. I wasn't suprised to hear many Rice players
balled their eyes out after the game, and i'm not bashing them for doing so... emotion runs high in the game of football especially when you play deep into
the season and lose so dramatically.
Anyhow back to the point, i'll give a slight advantage to De La Salle they are playing at home BUT this game is going to depend on who makes the fewest mistakes and the battle of the special teams. Lakeland will not beat themselves, this ones almost to close to call. Eagles by 1 in a thriller..... Nice emoticon PastBack... getting real creative over there I see. |

The Pilots have a tough and quick defense ... points wont be easy to come by.

I hereby pick Lakeland to win over DLS.
There, feel the kiss of death. You've been picked by me to win a game. Feels good, doesn't it? ![]() |

I was very impressed with DLS this year and I would be very surprised if Lakeland won. I watched them play twice this year. One drive this year I saw them score without passing the ball once, and on one drive this year I watched their QB systematically pick a defense apart all the way down the field without running the ball once. It seems like they have a very diverse offense and they will take what you give them. There defense is also very stingy. If I was the coach I would run it right up the gut, and just let there line wear 'em down. Less of the quick and more of the power. That is how I would play it. 28-7 DLS. |

Bigger? Oh yeah.
Stronger? Yep. Faster? No. Lakeland was a speed team all year. When speed meets size and the weather negates the speed, trouble ensues. I would've loved to have seen that game played in normal conditions. Maybe De La Salle wins anyway but I guarantee it's a closer game. De La Salle is simply massive between the tackles on both sides of the ball. There was no way to pass the ball effectively in those conditions. Tip of the cap to the Pilots, they got it done and are truly a great team but I would've loved to have seen that game played Friday night. |

I know Lakeland is new to it ... but if your team is only built to succeed on those 60 degree early fall evenings ... then this is the end of the line for you. Great season for Lakeland though ... Lakeland football has come a long way. I remember years ago catching a game on local TV in which Lakeland won the game .. .. The kid on TV was crying because he was so happy because it was the "first game he won in 4 years at Lakeland" Now they are competing for Regional Championships .... Congrats and continue to build on it. |

First off congrats on a great season!! I also would have liked to have seen better conditions b/c DLS has a fine passing game that would have given the Eagles
alot of trouble and they didn't get to show it. As far as the "Speed" comment, I saw two DLS RBs make long TD runs outrunning the Eagles
defense. They were all running on the same surface and they (DLS backs) out "speeded" Heiman and Penokie and the rest of their defense. What would
different conditions have mattered when both teams played on the same field??
