The coaches met last night and put together the All Metro Conference Team for 2008. I know certain players and coaches but not full details. I will post once
I get the okay and the full list. (Not sure when available for public knowledge yet). I love insider info.

I suggest that you not post the team. The coaches seem to want to handle this their own way.

I did hear one specific player got shafted pretty bad and its a true shame. I didn't hear the reasoning behind it either?
-- It is easy to figure out once the list comes out. |

Early congratulations to everyone who made the list and the two mvp's. I know no matter who is selected for what not everyone will be happy, especially
Primetime apparently. I can understand the frusturation if you felt your LB was better than their LB, or your OL was better than their OL, but lets remember
that the coaches voted on this and not the kids. So lets not disparage any athletes for nothing they had any part in. And in the end, as much as this
acknowledgement for individual athletes is great football is a team sport.

It should be given out by the end of the week. I will post the metro conference team on monday if it has not been published by that point. Shaft or no shaft,
it was done by majority vote.

I just dont understand how one player who had 43 more tackles and out played the other head to head (17 tackles and a fumble recovery to just 6 tackles) -
should of lost? Can you explain that to me?
I also learned there wasn't even any discussion about it - they just voted. |

The majority who voted should have done some research.
You won't find a single stat that even comes close to the result of the shafted pick. |

Most MVPs are chosen based on objective stats (tackles, tackles for loss, etc.) and subjective stats (how would their team perform if they weren't on the
field). Based on this criteria and the games I have seen this year, I believe the LB from NW would be a better pick than the LB from C'ville.
In any event, both NW and C'ville players and coaches know the value of their MVP candidates and both would be biased in their choices. It would be interesting to see the other five Metro coaches post their MVP pick and offer reasons why they chose who they chose. |

Well, it looks like the coaches voted based not on stats but based more on that one player is going to a D1 school and one isn't. Is that fair? Probably
not. But who knows what Gainer would have done if he were still at safety, which I think is the best spot for him on the field. He is probably the best
defensive player, let alone the best football player in the Metro, no matter what the stats say. He is going to Indiana, people. Kind of impressive.

Yes, I agree getting offered a D1 athletic scholarship is quite impressive but his play this year was not so much. I didn't see much improvment from last
year and he looks out of place at ILB, he made a lot of bad reads this year but also made up for a lot of mistakes with his athleticism.
I also agree others had a better defensive season than he did and just cause someone is playing in the Big Ten doesn't mean he was the best defensvie player this year in the Metro. Sounds like some coaches may of thought it would look bad if the Metro's only D1 athlete lost to a D3 kid. That being said: Good Luck to both Lutheran Northwest and Clarenceville tomorrow night! Both should win by double digits. |

From what i see they picked the MVP's like what Czar said. Gainer is a game changer and also a team leader. He might not have all the stats as did a year
ago, but hes none the less a great defensive player who plays with alot of heart and great instinct. Im guessing that NW QB won offensive? Figures, he eclipsed
1000 yards rushing and passing right?

Maybe the coaches didn't want both MVPs to be from NW, even if they were the most deserving.

My hotmail account upgraded to a newer format and now I can't open my attachment with the All Conference Team. I will see if I can get another copy so I
can post. If someone else has it, I think it is safe to say it can be posted.
