by the transitive property of football Lakeland should win this game.
Lakeland beat Western 42-28, Western beat Milford 31-24, Lakeland beats Milford 36-26

Transitive doesn't matter.
Until last year Milford won this game 17 years in a row. In the next 2 years Milford will continue to win because JV won against Lakeland 52-12. Either way it is going to be good game tonight. |

Lower levels for Lakeland are terrible.

Lower levels will be fine as long as Lakeland keeps punching Milford in the mouth on the varsity level. An impressive win tonight for Lakeland. 21-0 final and
a couple of TD's called back by strange penalties. The score could've been worse.

What I'm saying is that once they move up on varsity they aren't going to be that good.

HEISMAN wrote:So should we just pick based on everyones JV scores from the previous year? Thats a joke, dont underestimate Varsity-level coaching and the difference it can actually make on these kids. Many kids who are going to be serious varsity players are on the varsity by their sophomore year anyway. Lakeland has a fine staff over there, they know how to win games. Lakeland is no longer home to the defeatist mentality look for this rivalry to get better and better. Milford owned Lakeland throughout the 90's BUT this rivalry will teeter-totter in the next 10 years count on that, gasoline has been poured over the hot ashes of this rivalry.

A shutout victory for LHS. This victory gives Lakeland two in a row over their cross-district rival. This also makes two years in a row that Milford has not
won six games (4-5 in 2007). Strange trends after such strong years for Milford in 2006 and 2005.

Total yards in the game were 270-230 in favor of Lakeland, with much of Lakeland's yardage coming late in the 4th quarter. Up 14-0 late, Lakeland continues
to throw deep balls to add insult to injury.
Look at the yards and judge for yourself how much of a "domination" that was. I agree, strange trends the last two years. The strangeness will end next year. It's not only the score of the JV game, but the way it was played. Lakeland could barely get off the snap from center (and they were under center) with Milford's best two JV players from the year brought up to varsity. Milford scored three TD's in the first 8 minutes and called the dogs off at halftime. Back to normalcy in 2009. ![]() |

I guess we'll see but I don't exactly agree with any of your assessments. Lakeland did NOT "continue to throw deep balls" in the fourth
quarter. They threw ONE play action pass to salt the game away to their TE for a 30 yard TD after pounding the ball down the field. If you're going to
quote game stats, get them right. I saw the final stats. Lakeland threw the ball 13 times (completing 10 of them) and most of them were well before the
fourth quarter. Lakeland accumulated 360 total yards. What doesn't show up in the stats are the plays called back by penalty. Two TD plays and a lot more
yards were negated by questionable calls at best.

admiralKVC wrote:Bullshit. 4th and 9 from the 40, with about 5 minutes left, fade ball from Lakeland. Lakeland had 267 yards of offense, regardless of what your homer statistician has. Questionable calls? How about the pass interference that set up the first TD when the receiver turned up and ran into the DB? ![]() |

Lakeland threw TWO passes on their FIRST possession of the fourth quarter. One swing pass and one on fourth down. The only other pass of the quarter came to
salt the game away with around three minutes to go. Those are the undisputable facts. Throwing on third down and long up only two scores is hardly an insult
unless you truly don't understand the game.
Regardless, it's amazing to see someone with Milford ties reduced to sniveling on a web site. To anyone that saw the game there was no insult but maybe crying about "injury" is warranted. Milford was beaten and outclassed all night long. Instead of admitting the better team won, Milford apparently is seeking refuge in delusional statistics and imagined slights. They received one key penalty all night and it was as justified as it comes. (That was clearly pass interference) Lakeland had multiple touchdowns called back and still found the fortitude to overcome the officials. It just goes to show you that the right team won. |

admiralKVC wrote:No, I'm just sick and tired of all the Lakeland sniveling that's been going on here for the past two seasons. Lakeland had sucked for so long and there is no chatter. All of the sudden, Lakeland finds some success and they come on sites like this and can't shut up. When you whine about TD's coming back because of "questionable" calls (both holding penalties were totally legit, by the way) it is you who is sniveling. And I have given Lakeland credit before, and I give them credit now for having the slightly better team. Who was the first person on this site to pick Lakeland to win the North? That was me. Have we ever heard any of you Lakeland people giving Milford respect? Hell, no. Hmm, and when did you and the other Lakeland people come on here and give Milford their due any of the previous years; years when Milford routed Lakeland? Yeah, that would be never. So don't talk about how I'm sniveling when that's all Lakeland people do. You squawk around when Lakeland wins (especially against Milford) but when things are going badly (like they do most years), you hide. I wonder which it will be next year? Whichever it is, it will be cowardly. ![]()

I'll have to take your word for it since it's apparent by your posts that you engage in cowardly behavior. So, this must make you an expert on the subject. Slightly better? Really? A team with an 8-2 record that administered a dominating, white-wash shut out loss to a team with a record of 5-5 is given grudging admittance as to being slightly better? Way to man up. What color is the sky in your world? Whatever the answer... take a deep breath, quit being so frustrated and cranky, think happy thoughts and maybe you might want to look up the word "sniveling" on dictionary.com.
