Sophomore Posts: 19 10/19/08 7:32 AM	Tags : None Sterling Heights Parkway Christian (2-6) @ Lutheran Northwest (8-0) Parkway is really 7-1 (without forfeits) so this should be a good game. Northwest has to avoid allowing Tipton to get big plays on punt and kickoff returns. If they can keep him in check, they should be able to win the game and complete an undefeated season. Northwest by 9 Detroit Allen (1-4) @ Harper Woods (4-4) Which Harper Woods team will show up? If it's the one that came to NW last Friday, they will win easily. Harper Woods by 17 Catholic Opponant @ Cranbrook (4-4) What is going on with Cranbrook? How did they lose to Westland and then crush North? I have no idea in this one so I'll go with the Metro team. Cranbrook by 3 Lutheran North (4-4) @ Richmond (5-3) Early in the season North got crushed by Yale. Richmond beat Yale. It doesn't bode well for Lutheran North. Richmond by 14 Pontiac Notre Dame Prep (3-5) @ Livonia Clarenceville (7-1) Prep beat a good Detroit Loyola team earlier in the season, but Clarenceville is better than Loyola. Clarenceville by 7 Detroit Urban Lutheran (0-7) @ Lutheran Westland (3-5) Westland finishes the season with a respectable 4-5 record. Westland by 10 Conner Creek West (1-5) @ Detroit University Prep (2-6) Prep finishes the season on a high note. Prep by 21 South Lyon East (0-8) @ Hamtramck (0-8) Someone has to get their first win of the season. Hamtramck's squad of 15 prevails. Hamtramck by 7 Last Edited By: arthurhill 10/19/08 12:19 PM. NW by 14 Harper Woods vs. Allen -- Harper by 10 Cranbrook vs. Catholic team-- Whatever they Catholic team is, they win by 7 North vs. Richmond-- Richmond is going to be hungry for a playoff spot. Richmond by 12 ND Prep vs. C'ville-- The Trojans will get a W before playoffs. C'Ville by 10. Westland vs. Urban Lutheran-- Westland will keep the unvictorious season hopes alive for Urban. Westland by 16 South Lyon vs. Hamtown -- Why would either spoil their season with a win? TIE GAME.

Sophomore Posts: 60 10/20/08 11:53 PM	Its called the Run and Shoot, Primetime which was the precurser to the Spread. Formation "The basic Run and Shoot formation has five linemen for blocking, a quarterback, a single running back, and four receivers. Variations though are common and it's hard to call any of them a 'true' "Run and Shoot" formation. Some teams use a tight end instead of a 4th wide receiver on many sets and emphasize motion using a 'slot' wide receiver. Another form actually has the offense using 2 H-Backs. An H-Back is a form of tight-end/fullback hybrid. Players who are tall enough to play tight-end, block like fullbacks, have solid hands, and can match up in all phases of the offense. They can block, run routes, lead block, or even carry the ball on some plays. Teams using H-Backs will often use 2 wide receivers and 1 or 2 H-Backs, with 1 of each to a side of the ball with the H-Backs lined up as wingbacks. This formation allows the offense to not only motion the H-Backs but allows it to hide its strong side until right before the snap, which allows for a quarterback to flip play left to right with almost no penalty to performance." Although it could be called the Spread too! "The spread offense is a generic term used to describe an offense that operates out of a formation with multiple wide receivers, usually out of the Shotgun, and can be run or pass oriented. One of the goals of the spread offense is to stretch the field both horizontally and vertically, and to take what is normally most teams best defenders (linebackers) out of the game by utilizing three or more receivers."

Northwest DL line will control the game and the stud LB'ers will do some work. Rolf and Co. run wild. Northwest 49 - Parkway 20 Detroit Allen (1-4) @ Harper Woods (4-4) Harper takes care of the light work to end up with a winning record. Harper Woods 46 - Detroit Allen 0 Waterford Our lady @ Cranbrook (4-4) Lakes is a tough team but very undersized this year it could be a shoot out, I am taking the Metro team. Cranbrook 42 - WOLL 38 Lutheran North (4-4) @ Richmond (5-3) North had trouble scoring on a pourous Cranes defense, doesn't get much better this week. Richmond 49 - North 14 Pontiac Notre Dame Prep (3-5) @ Livonia Clarenceville (7-1) Prep has had some bad games and the Trojans should control this game. Clarenceville 30 - ND prep 14 Detroit Urban Lutheran (0-7) @ Lutheran Westland (3-5) Westland should win this game after handling University Prep last week Westland 29 - Urban 8 Conner Creek West (1-5) @ Detroit University Prep (2-6) U Prep should win big here. Prep 34 - Conner Creek 0 South Lyon East (0-8) @ Hamtramck (0-8) Someone said Hamtramck is down to 15 players - what happened? Who would've thunk that Clarenceville and Lu North would be looking up in the Metro standings to see Lu NW smiling down at them? For NW it's been a magical season... will it continue? From the dregs to the top shelf, here I stand (I can do no other): Dregs: South Lyon East (0-8) at Hamtrammy (0-8), Conner Creek West (is there an east?), (1-5) at Det U Prep (2-6), and Det Urban Lu (0-7) at LHWL (3-5). I see the home teams prevailing in all these tilts... 21-14, 35-14 and 21-7 respectively. Mid-grade: Waterford (?) at Cranbrook (4-4), Det Allen (1-4) at H Woods (4-4) and Lu North (4-4) at Richmond (5-3)... Well, the 'Cranes' surprised me last week against North, so I'll stick with them, 24-14, Lu North spoiled my perfect picking last week, so I desert them and go with play-off motivated Richmond, 35-21; and what's with Det Allen only having played 5 games?? They should play that (1-1) team from Warren a few times and beef up their record! Doesn't help this week, though, H Woods 28-14. Premium teams (from the Metro standpoint, that is): Pontiac N. Dame Prep (3-5) at Clarenceville (7-1) and Sterling Heights Parkway Christian ('7-1') at Lu NW (8-0)... First of all, those two non-Metro teams with the super-long names will be tired in the huddle after saying 'Let's go....(long name)...' Secondly, the combined 15-1 of C'Ville and NW trumps the 10-6 of the opponents (4-12 if you count forfeits for SHPC), and finally, I WANT the Metro teams to win: C'Ville, 42-7 and NW 35-20. So there it is!

Harper Woods vs. Allen -- Finish the season strong Cranbrook vs. Waterford our Lady-- After beating LN, I see this win for CBrook. North vs. Richmond-- I thought LN was on a role and this would be a good game, Richmond will be hungry and win here. ND Prep vs. C'ville-- C'ville is looking to secure Homefield for playoffs. I see them sending a statement here. Westland vs. Urban Lutheran-- Go Spread!! - How weird to say. South Lyon vs. Hamtown -- Would have thought the Hamtown that started the season to have a shot. After what I witnessed last week, this will be all South Lyon East.

Harper Woods 28 Allen Academy 0- Finish up strong and give the Metro some playoff points. Our Lady of the Lakes 20 Cranbrook 14- It'll be close but I see Our Lady winning this one. Clarenceville 22 ND Prep 7- Clarenceville makes a statement for the Metro. Lutheran Westland 22 Urban 12- THis will be close but Westland wins. SOuth Lyon East 24 Hamtramck 8- The Cosmoes have disappointed me this year.

Northwest 35 - Parkway 21. Harper Woods vs. Allen Academy. Harper Woods will finish up the disappointing season with a win. Harper Woods 21 - Allen Academy 7. Our Lady of the Lakes vs. Cranbrook - Cranbrook has been improving ever since the loss to Westland. Cranbrook 35 - Our Lady of the Lakes 21. Clarenceville vs. Notre Dame Prep - Clarenceville finishes the great season with a "w". Clarenceville 35 - Notre Dame 14. Lutheran Westland vs. Detroit Ubran - Lutheran Westland's spread has been developing and will win this won easily. Lutheran Westland 42 - Detroit Urban 0. Hamtramck vs. South Lyon East. South Lyon East has no seniors because they are a brand new school. I see them winning this one after playing huge schools the entire year. South Lyon East 28 - Hamtramck 7.

Senior Posts: 301 10/26/08 4:00 PM Varsity	It looks as though the "spread" didn't develop as well as some people thought and maybe should of stuck to what they did best - only 7 points against a 0-8 team is never good. Also Cranbrook change to the "run and shoot" or whatever you want to call it - cause I guess I don't know - didn't work either. Cranbrook should of won this game, but not by 28 - instead they lost by 17 - Ouch! Hamtramck and Cranbrook didn't help with playoff points for Clarenceville and Northwest with their losses and we all knew North wouldn't have won that one anyway. Although it looks like a big Thanks needs to go out to Westland for scraping by and winning that game. Because a Urban win would of gave both Shrine and Northwest points giving Shrine the narrow edge. >> Now it looks like Northwest should have Home Field advantage throughout the districts and regional.
