Perhaps a Detroit PSL expert can answer that question. I won't post the link since it is political in nature, but there was a quote in there about Detroit having 10 schools above the 2000 student mark. On the 2007 - 2008 football SEN numbers that I did, I could only find 4 such schools. This means that another 6 went above that 2000 number threshold. So can someone confirm that there are 10 such schools currently (and will be listed as such for the MHSAA next year) or I'm correct that the reporter didn't know what he was talking about again.

The rumor in the PSL is that there will be more school closing of high schools in the near future(5 years or less) and that the league would go from 20 schools down to 16. The overflow from the closed schools might take some of the other schools over 2000 students if they can retain that many students from going to charter schools. I firmly believe that there are going to be more charter schools coming soon because the detroit teachers contract is due to be renegotiated by the end of this school year which means they should be talking now. Word on the street is that Connie Calloway does not recognize the union and may not talk with them. If this happens, you will see a mass exodus even worse than in 2006. They will then dip well below 100,000 students and it will be mandated that more charter schools can be opened. If this happens the DPS will have to close more schools but I don't know if they will be able to retain enough to have 10 schools with over 2000 students unless they are the only 10 schools open. They will have then gone from 20 high schools down to 10. That is my speculation. I did not see what you saw. Tell me where to find it so I can look at it also.
