Senior Posts: 188 09/15/07 12:22 PM	Tags : None i went 6-4 last week 30-15 overall western over canton canton with two loses say it aint so western still must play plymouth, wayne and there rivals central so even if they win they still might not win the division. plymouth over franklin plymouth got a huge win and that lost to wayne must hurt them franklin must win out just to make the playoffs and what a huge win that was over wayne but with plmouth and canton on there schedule plus churchill and crossover and may be to much for franklin to get in wayne over northvill tough lost for wayne at 2-2 with games against western canton and glenn left plus a crossover the playoffs are going to be tough to get into churchill over glenn what happened to glenn against stevenson thought it would be much closer churchill vs stevenson next week both at 5-0 for the city championship and possible division championship what a huge game wish i lived in michigan instead of north carolina or i would go see my former team stevenson play stevenson over northern stevenson churchill next week both potentially undeafted wow central over salem central must win out to make playoffs which will be tough with glenn western stevenson and crossover left milford over brighton milford 2-2 with only tough game being south lyon should make playoffs brighton 2-2 with games againts howell milford lakeland and novi plus stevenson is in real danger off not making it to go 4-1 against that schedule would be impressive howell over pickney howell should make playoffs lakeland over novi south lyon over hartland Last Edited By: baligian 09/15/07 10:04 PM. Posts: 1 09/16/07 4:19 PM	Is it that much of a stretch to think Novi could beat Lakeland bigleg??? I think Novi has defeated Lakeland every year since 1984. Yes, Lakeland is good this year, there is no denying that, but Novi has been there and done that for a long time and they are well coached (maybe the best coaching staff in the KVC). It should be a tight game featuring two quality teams.

The Milford/Brighton match up is just as intriguing. I just can't see Milford losing three in a row. Milford wins big.

Posts: 2 09/17/07 8:24 AM	The "let-down" question is a valid one. Which team is more likely to suffer a let-down? Personally, I'm not sure if a let-down will occur for either team. I would think the obvious implications of this game on the league will keep both squads on edge. In Lakelands favor: they have a solid team, good team speed, they've beaten some quality teams and KNOW they can beat most teams they face. They appear to have a good defense and can put up points. In Novi's favor: they obviously don't quit (they've played their best ball in the second half of almost every game). They have some good athletes on both sides of the ball, they have the ability to run and throw depending on what is dictated by the defense, solid coaching, and home field. They've beaten Howell, lost to Milford & "lost/won" against AA Pioneer in a tight game. If anything I think pressure is of greater consequence in this game than a "let-down" Which team will handle the pressure better, which team will be able to move the ball on the ground, who will control the clock, who will make the fewest mistakes? This game could/will basically come down to who outcoaches who starting today and ending Friday night. I won't make any predictions, other than it should be a great game.

Freshmen Unranked Walkon Posts: 2 09/17/07 10:24 AM	I agree, Novi is the favorite in this one. Lakeland is getting cocky with their win over milford. Novi is at home and needs to win badly. Should be a battle though. I also pick Brighton over milford. One thing is for sure, Brighton will outcoach the milford staff. Did anybody clean up the puddles left on the sideline by Fox and his staff after that second half on Friday? Why is it that the whole league wants milford to lose? Maybe it is because they have been so cocky and dirty the last couple years. milford is shouting rematch in D2 with Lakeland yet I predict they don't even get in the playoffs (but I am sure they will beat Pinckney in weeks 8 and 9 - what a joke!).

Sophomore Posts: 42 09/17/07 4:33 PM Forum Donor	I agree with you KVCcya, pressure plays an important roll in close games. Lakeland is now 4-0. I dont know about Lakeland being "cocky", but confidence is a great attribute in young players. On the other hand, all things being fairly close to even, Novi is now 3-1 after being 2-2. They are also feeling pretty good about themselves you can bet. Last year, Novi pulled out a miracle win in the last minute of play. Lakeland was on thier own 45 with third down and long. The QB rolled out and took a big loss... followed by a 15 yard penalty tacked on... then punted a 20 yard punt into a huge wind...followed by a Novi fair catch. This of course was followed by a free kick that split the uprights to give Novi an unbelievable win. That series of events, to me, is still mind boggleing.(is that a word?) If all things are relatively even, I still feel you've gotta believe that crafty old coach finds a way to pull a rabbit out of his hat...again. Both teams are flying high right now, but Novi is at home and they still have that Coach. Novi squeaks out another victory.

They have been beaten by Novi 22 years in a row. I believe that Lakeland will not come out flat and give Novi all they've got. I remember last years game in which Novi beat Lakeland by a field goal, which many of the kids were stunned by and could not believe what the scoreboard said because of the ackward free kick that Novi executed. This is a revenge game for Lakeland and if they come out the way they did against Milford in the second half they will have a great victory. Lakeland over Novi by 10.

Posts: 3 09/18/07 8:22 AM	I think I would agree with the Wizz that there could be a "let-down" by Lakeland. I believe Milford is the main rival to Lakeland and it was an emotional win. Don't mistake his post as a slight to Novi. I think 22 straight Novi wins is motivation enough for Lakeland this week (as is a shot at running the KVC table). How could Lakeland NOT respect Novi or overlook them? Personally, I see Lakeland as the favorite based on how they've played thus far.....BUT I also know that an undefeated season AND entering unknown territory (i.e. being a favorite) puts extra pressure on this team that really hasn't been through this before. The Novi kids have seen teams ahead of them go through this, have a tradition of being tough, and have a coach that won't let them think beyond THIS game. It will likely come down to which team "imposes it's will" on the other. Novi did a pretty good job of limiting Howell's ground attack. I assume they will try and take away the ability of Lakeland to kill them via the running game. Can Lakeland pass the ball regularly and effectively if Novi limits their ground attack? Lakeland has a choice to make also, do they stuff Novi on the ground and choose to have Novi beat them thru the air? Novi has the ability to pass the ball and pick up big gains, as evidenced on film. Novi also has a RB that may be the class of the conference, so does Lakeland limit the big play via the pass and take their chances on the ground? Lakeland may have the edge in special teams, defense, and motivation. Novi may have the edge in big game experience, coaching and athletes. I wouldn't bet a dollar on the outcome of this game. Turnovers/penalties might be the factor that determines the team left standing.

South Lyon over Hartland by 14 Very typical buisness-like win for South Lyon last week vs. Pinckney. Punch the clock, do your work, play your subs, get a win, go home. Offence righing itself from first three weeks. Hartland will keep the score close but not within striking distance. Milford over Brighton by 3 Milford must beat Brighton or South Lyon AND run the table to have a shot at playoffs. Precarious situation when the season started. Bulldogs final five games vs. teams with a combined 16-4 record. Ouch! This game could be won by either team. I don't see the Mavs losing three in a row (that sounds familure). Mavs win in a close one. Novi over Lakelands by 1 (GOW) Ok, so I've written off Lakelands twice, but this is a different opponent. This is a good Novi team who can both run and pass and have been overlooked. Novi is a very quick and athletic team. I think this will neutrilize Lakelands size advantage and speed. With the Novi win streak over Lakelands, a game plan execution silular to last week's vs Howell and the game at home, I'll take Novi in a late, come-from-behind score.

Posts: 4 09/18/07 4:06 PM	Oh yeah, the rest of the KVC games: Howell over Pinckney by 17 Pinckney keeps improving on a year by year basis, but so does the rest of the conference. Howell resumes their winning ways. South Lyon over Hartland by 6 Something keeps telling me to take the Eagles in this one because they are home and are playing pretty good ball. My common sense says Lions 9 times out of 10. Milford over Brighton by 10 Brighton is something of a mystery this year? The game is a "home" game, sort of. Milford puts things back together and starts climbing back from the edge. Novi vs Lakeland- Game can go either way. This game will not decide the KVC Champ, but it will sure put one team in a VERY good position. If Lakeland wins they have Howell and Brighton remaining. If Novi wins they have Brighton, South Lyon (and Hartland) remaining. It's a shame that this is the final year of the KVC, this conference was beginning to become a MAJOR player in the MHSAA post-season. Having followed the conference for several years it's dissapointing that a KVC team hasn't won a state title (so many near misses between Lakeland and South Lyon not so long ago, to recent performancs by Brighton, South Lyon, Milford and Novi). It seems in recent years that the State Champion has always had to go through (and survive a close one) vs. a KVC representative. I'd just like to take a moment and say "hats off" to ALL KVC participants past and present (including the coaches and fans). The conference may be going away, but in my opinion the teams are just beginning to make their marks against opponents from other conferences and more importantly...in the play-offs.

Milford over Brighton by 14. (According to Cracked Head "one thing is for sure, Brighton will outcoach the Milford Staff.") Now granted things didnt go quite the way Milford planned them, but you can bet your bottom dollar Coach Fox will make the proper adjustments for this weeks game. No disrespect to Brighton's Coaching staff, but Coach Fox and his crew play second fiddle to no-one in this league. One bad second half does not define a Coach's ability. Look to see Milford come out strong. I would figure Milford by 10. Last but not least, Novi edging out Lakeland by one is about right. Although Lakeland has come from behind in the second half to beat both Milford and South Lyon. So I dont think Novi will come from behind, rather, take a quick lead and grind it out. Should be a low scoring event.

Hartland might keep it close most the game, but in the end chalk up a "W" for the Lyons Milford over Brighton by 7. Lakeland VS. Novi- I will have to take Lakeland in this one. For no reason other than the fact I think they will come out with a big chip on there shoulder, from that interesting game last year. Lakeland by 3

Stevenson is having a fine year, and it's like a tree falling in the woods (with noone around). Did anyone notice Canton has lost twice?
